Description: Conservation groups including the Western Watersheds Project (WWP) and the Idaho Conservation League support responsible development of renewable energy projects, provided there is a requirement for comprehensive, ecologically sound, science-based analysis in determining where those projects should be sited.

WWP are protesting a proposed wind farm in the Brown's Bench area of Idaho. The China Mountain Project would have up to 200 wind towers and 70 miles of new and constructed roads, fragmenting the last intact, sage-steppe landscape in Idaho.
In support of renewable energy, WWP is encouraging developers to relocate the project to already disturbed and degraded private agricultural lands in Nevada and Idaho, that provide equally valuable wind resources without destroying critically needed wildlife habitat on public lands.
